HOW WOULD YOUR LIFE
BE DIFFERENT
IF YOU COULD TURN EVERY CHALLENGE
INTO A BLESSED STEPPING STONE?
-
Do you ever wonder why you have
challenges now and then?
-
Have you ever questioned or wondered,
why me?
The story of Frankie, the Walk ‘N
Roll Dog is a true, inspirational story about a dog whose life started
out just like any other dog walking on all four paws until a spinal
injury leaves her paralyzed. When Frankie is custom fit for a wheelchair
she gradually learns to keep on rolling. Her zest for life will
have you cheering her on and give you hope that all things are possible.
Frankie’s story touches the hearts of young and old as
she teaches us how a challenge can become a stepping stone to
something more meaningful. Frankie’s motto is: “Always
be positive and keep on rolling!”

My
father, after reading the book, called with tears in his voice to
say how much the book had touched him. He had thought that it would
be “just a children’s book” and was surprised
by how it had affected him. His mind took him back to the dogs he
had loved who were no longer with him. He empathized with Barbara’s
struggles and enjoyed the lighter moments. He couldn’t believe
how he could almost hear Frankie as she told of her life.
My dad continues to cherish the conversation
he had with Eleanore (his granddaughter and my 8-year old niece)
about the book. Both of them especially loved how Frankie described
the feeling of flight while riding in the basket in the front of
Barbara’s bicycle! When my niece first received the book,
she said “oh, this is going to be sad”. Eleanore was
delighted to find that it was a positive and joyful story and couldn’t
wait to show the book to her friends.

A Letter
from Frankie's Mom I
absolutely believe animals were put on this earth to awaken us and
teach us what life is truly about.
My life took on new meaning
when my chocolate lab, Cassie Jo was diagnosed with terminal bone
cancer in 2004. Her diagnoses helped me to see the bigger picture
of life. I was yearning to live with more joy, make a difference,
and leave a legacy. I began writing a monthly column about animals
to share the lessons they have taught me.
When Frankie ruptured a disk in her
back in 2006, I questioned again why another challenge so close
on the heels of Cassie’s death was happening to me. I struggled
to find the answer, letting sorrow at first, take over. As Frankie
began to heal I realized she was still the same Frankie even though
she was now paralyzed. She did not let her physical handicap get
in the way of being the same sweet dog she was before her accident.
Realizing the opportunity to share this lesson with others, I wrote
Frankie’s life story. It is told by Frankie herself, through
me, her loving, human mom.

| We
Always Have A Choice
It can be easy to let challenges
overwhelm us and then lose track of what really matters. Frankie's
story is about the courage, the determination, and the acceptance
of "what is" that allows you to seek the guidance in your
heart and know that anything you set your mind to is possible.
